Athletic Bio-
Contrary to popular belief I grew up with no swimming, cycling, or running background. I actually grew up racing quartermidgets (something similar to a go cart) and a scaled down version of a sprint car. Many people do not consider racing cars a sport, but after getting out of the sprint car after the first time driving it my arms were jello and I was worked. Didn't help that I was 5'8", 140lbs, if I was soaking wet, but none the less I consider it a sport.
My family always told me that I should run in high school. That wasn't what the "cool" kids did, so I played football and basketball, because that is what the "cool" kids did. I wasn't a great athlete by any means, never scored a touchdown in football, got very little playing time in basketball. The life lessons that were learned during both of those sports were great, but my athletic talent was no all that great.
After getting stationed in Korea in 2007, I had a very non productive first year, unless you consider getting 4 years of college partying accomplished in 1 year. I wouldn't say I had a "problem", I will just say that I did what almost every 21 year old does, I partied and I partied hard. After about 10 months of doing that I came across a Sprint Triathlon flyer scheduled for June of 2008, courtesy of the Army unit on base and then Colonel, now General Brad Becker. I figured since I was going home on leave in June and I had put on some weight, well for me 185 was a little heavy compared to what I used to weigh. I figured it would be a good way to get back in shape.
I bought a $200 cheap Korean bike and found a training schedule online. Started training in March of 2008 and well the rest is pretty much history ;) Actually from there on out you can find out about it on here. I have tried to blog about every race since then. It has been quite the journey, and I can't thank my family, friends, and supporters for the continued support, none of this would of been possible without YOU!
